FAQs

  • Why should I use an independent college consultant?

The college admissions process has become markedly more complicated in the past 5 to 10 years. Keeping track of all the moving pieces, along with dealing with a teenager facing the biggest decision of their life to date can be quite overwhelming. An independent college consultant can defuse much of that stress by managing details, supplying knowledge of the application process, and acting as a moderating voice between teenager and parent.

  • What services do you offer?

My goal is to provide guidance through every step of the college application process. That includes creating a robust college list tailored to your child’s specific interests, goals, and ultimate college experience. I also provide support with applications, crafting essays, and managing deadlines. With my small caseload I am able to create a specific plan that meets the needs of you and your child.

  • What is the cost of your services?

Pricing varies depending on the specific needs and timelines for your child. Please contact me here for my pricing and package information.

  • Will you write my child's admissions essays?

No. Given my experience reading hundreds of essays for a highly selective university, I know that admissions teams are looking for your child’s authentic voice in their writing. However, since the essay process is a significant part of what we do together, leveraging my teaching experience, I will work very closely with your child, guiding them through the development of their essays including composition and editing to ensure they are presenting their very best self to the admissions team.

  • What can parents expect from me?

I believe that clear expectations and communication is the key to our success together. We will all sign a contract outlining the details of what you can expect from me as an independent college admissions consultant and the roles and responsibilities of both you and your child during the process. I will document each working session with your child and send assignments to be completed through an innovative software program I use. I will communicate with both you and your child if they are not completing their work or have upcoming deadlines approaching.

  • Do you have an acceptance guarantee?

I do not promise acceptance to specific schools, and I caution against working with any professional who does. I work with your child to help them find the Right Fit college for them as an individual. I do so by committing to the ethical standards outlined by professional membership organizations. The service I provide that is the most valuable is my experience in a college admissions office. I help students create their college list and apply to schools that they are qualified to attend. My goal is for each student create their own success.
